Raymond Charles New from Auckland, New Zealand. Rode speedway as Ray New in New Zealand, and as Charlie New in England. He rode for Belle Vue and Sheffield in 1950, Coventry 1951-1957, and Oxford in 1958. He raced stock cars as Steve Storm because the speedway organisation did not like their riders or officials being involved with stock car racing, so many simply raced with a different name.
He was the promoter at Palmerston North 1960-1967 and 1972-1977. Introduced stock car racing in 1964, although there had been stock cars in NZ since late 1954.
