Woodhouse Lane Stadium opened in 1928 for greyhound racing. Speedway took place at the stadium in 1952 and 1953, with stock car racing in 1954 and 1955. The stadium closed in April 1961 and became an athletics arena.
It was long believed that the two 1955 meetings had been held at Poolstock Stadium. However, in April 2024, newspaper adverts for the two meetings were discovered by Mark Summersbee, which showed that they were at Woodhouse Lane.
