Garden Stadium was built on the site of a zoo that had closed in 1979. Opened 1981 for greyhound racing, with Spedeworth running stock car meetings in the early 1980s. Trackstar took over and staged F1 meetings in early 1986. The stadium closed in late 1986, and was demolished to make way for Pleasure Island Theme Park. The boating lake is on the site of the infield of the track.
