Legend has it that this meeting actually took place in the car park, rather than in the stadium itself. One possible reason for this is that the few photos of the meeting do not show the stadium floodlights in the background, which are visible in the photo of the 1955 meeting. However, greyhound racing had ceased at the end of 1955, and possibly the lights had been removed.
Patricia Abbott interviewed Gerry Weir for her book The Rolling Lap and he told her that he did not remember any meeting in the car park.
