The Trouble Maker - An Austin Ruby had provided the bodywork and the whole presentation of the car was outstanding. Much time had been spent on the appearence of the beast, to a level not many attempted back then. The exhaust manifolds on the Jag motor were changed to straight stubby pipes and topped off with protective caps linked by chrome chain, most likely intended to use on injectors but they looked the dogs! The brake back plates had also been drilled extensively to improve cooling. My thoughts at the time were that the whole look of the car had been inspired by an American Hot Rod which was featured in numerous magazines, known as the L'il Coffin. Here is Trouble Maker Too with the 2CV bodywork. This car went 150 John Taylor and soldiered on for years with a Jaguar motor. (Words and photo by John Nolan).

This car was ahead of its time, featuring a small block Chevrolet poached from a F5000 car it was said at the time, and the headers on the car would seem to confirm this. This car morphed into the 312 car, the driver being Roy Barton. (Words by John Nolan, photo by Colin Casserley)
